Art

Expression

Oh how you make me spin madly in circles you wonderfully poisonous being.

How my heart freezes and melts at the same time when you are near.

How your touch moves my soul to distant worlds yet traps me in your grasp.

I no longer wish for fame or money or class.

Only for you. My wonderfully poisonous love.

Only for us.

This was a poem I wrote for a poetry competition. It didn't win anything and I wrote this poem in a matter of an hour but it opened a new route of creativity for me. I found that I love writing poetry. For myself. It's an outlet that has helped me with many things in my life and I have come to love the feeling I get by putting pen to paper and releasing myself. This is a great hobby that I urge people to try. And I hope you like my poem. :)

It's a Bird its a.....

Let me stop you right there. By now we all know our social media logos and can call them out at the drop of a hat!

Until recently all I knew about twitter was that the post was called a tweet. I have recently given into the twitter fad and created my own and I can honestly (and hesitantly) admit that I am already addicted. After my first 3 posts, which I am very proud of, I have come to the realization that no matter how hard I try to latch on to the old times of tangible letters and phone calls the world is adapting to one where efficiency and mass communication are the main focus.

Although this was a harsh reality to come to, the presence of media such as Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and other outlets of the sort are really quite an amazing thing. They allow you to reach out to so many different places and influence so many new groups of people. But I have to admit, I will always miss the simple days when you just looked up someone's name in the phone book and anxiously waited for them or their home message machine to pick up. #90'sgirlproblems. (See I'm already getting the hang of it!)
So what does this have to do with art or creativity? Why am I talking about this on my blog today?
Well as every single one of you have probably already come to this realization, as well as the rest of the world I'm sure (sorry I'm slow), that the new world of media has opened up portals where artists, creators theorists, or just plain Janes with something on their mind can express themselves. As intellectuals, bakers, painters, or musicians we can now share our macaroni craft project with a family in China! or a school in Peru! or just the lady down the street! All with clicks of a button!
So again, I'm pretty sure I'm 5 years too late with my epiphany but I am just so excited to be starting something here, on my blog, on Twitter, on Facebook, and I can't wait til I get the hang of it. So hang in there people, I'll be rockin' this blog soon!

So...I took this brain test and it turned out that I'm more right brained than left. This didn't surprise me too much but it was fun to see how close to being even brained I was.

According to The Art Institute of Vancouver's creative test, being right brained means I am a creative thinker who uses feeling and intuition to gather information and I use patterns and images to retain that information. I visualize the whole picture before I work on putting the pieces together, which can make my thought process seem quite illogical. I also find it easy to express myself using art dance, or music.

Wow, this test was so accurate! If only my "right brainedness" came with a little bit of talent, then I'd have the whole package.

I encourage everyone to take this quiz! It was fun and a great insight into how your brain works and what motivates you. I kind of already knew that I was more creative than not, hence my desire to start this blog. But hey, you never know, you could have very different experience.

Check it out! Let me know your results!

Halloween Art!

So this Halloween was by far the BEST one I have ever had, both costume wise and fun wise!

Me and 4 of my roommates were Loofahs!

This was one of the most fun costumes I have made yet, I love making my costumes and coming up with innovative ideas! When else do you get to dress up like anything at all and walk around like nothings different! Halloween is such a great time to express yourself in any way you want to, this year we all chose to express ourselves as really clean!

My advice for the future, make sure you take advantage of this awesome holiday and walk around in your very own works of art.

Me and my roommates were ready to own best costume 2012 and I think we came pretty close. But let me know for yourself, what do you think of our costumes?

Art

Noun:
       1.   The expression or application of human skill and imagination, typically
in a visual form such as painting or sculpture
       2.   Works produced by such skill and imagination

To many ART is a foreign concept, or so they think. People perceive art to be in a completely different realm of thinking. I see art as I feel it was truly meant to be, as an outlet for passion and imagination, which everyone in the world has.

When I think art, like most people, I think, paintings, sculptures, drawings, and occasionally the blank white canvas that we all wish we understood. The truth is there is so much more to it than that. The simplest things can be seen as art. For instance, a simple wedding vow can be a work of art. In a vow, you have taken ideas, passion, imagination, and love and turned it into an expression through words. Even simpler, a hairstyle you have taken time to do is a work of art. You have taken an idea and created something beautiful for everyone to see.
I, for one, love to envision the world through art! A political speech, a garden full of flowers, even the arrangement of furniture in your house (OK maybe I’m pushing that one a little bit, but hey, Feng Shui). The point is, that you don’t need to be an artist or a poet to have art in your life or produce beautiful things. You only have to be aware and search to find the art in everyday life I assure you your life will become so much more interesting and beautiful once you stop, look around and discover the passion and hard work put into simple everyday tasks that we may usually just ignore.

Try it out, let me know what you find!
